When we asked our newest 6-year-old resident at Hephzibah Home what he wanted for the holidays this year, he told us, “I don’t believe in Santa. I wished for love last year and didn’t get it.” For the children served at Hephzibah Home, this season is about more than restoring a belief in Santa, it is about restoring the idea that a home can be filled with love.
A place for hope and healing, Hephzibah Home serves close to 60 children each year, ages 3-11 years, and is the only treatment center in all of Illinois for such young children who have been severely traumatized by abuse and neglect.
“It was my home when I as a boy. I knew it was a loving place. I knew it from the first day,” says Peter Murphy, former resident.
The healing and growth we witness at the home is amazing. “There are some kids when you first see them you think ‘no way are they going to overcome this’ and with just a change of environment, and the support they need, they can do it,” says staff member Janet Sullivan.
Our work helping young children heal from trauma is made possible through the generosity of hundreds of individuals like you who give what they can. What can you give?
This year, all donations made through December 31 will be matched dollar for dollar, thanks to our board and some anonymous donors. Please donate today.
Thank you for supporting Hephzibah’s work with children and families.
P.S. If you are looking for an additional way to give and promote giving this holiday season, consider creating and sharing your personal fundraising page for Hephzibah.
