Hephzibah’s daycare program began in 1974 when the need for childcare surpassed the need for a children’s home, and Hephzibah Home became a daycare program. During this time, more women were entering the workforce, and the need for nurturing, enriching and affordable daycare had surpassed the need for a children’s home.
Hephzibah temporarily suspended its residential program and launched a daycare program that provided educational, cultural and social enrichment for school-aged children after school and during the summer months while parents worked. Eventually the program would relocate to serve families onsite at all local district elementary schools, allowing more families access to affordable childcare.
Today, Hephzibah provides daycare for over 750 children at eight elementary schools and one summer day camp location. By continuing to offer affordable childcare to local families, we are honoring our mission to help children and families thrive and flourish through community-based programs. We hope you can join us to celebrate the success of this program!
