When the sun goes down and the stars come out on Saturday, March 7, hundreds of Hephzibah supporters will be stepping out for a celestial evening of dining and dancing under the stars in the Skyline Loft at the Bridgeport Art Center.
This spectacular event space — with its soaring timber loft construction, skylights and panoramic view of the Chicago skyline — is the perfect setting for our 2015 Heart of Gold Ball, The Stars Among Us.
Join us on Saturday, March 7th at 6pm for what is sure to be one of the most memorable and magical nights of the year. Help us celebrate the wish all children share: to live with love and hope, and to have a chance to shine.
Our evening begins with champagne and cocktails, followed by a delicious dinner, exciting auctions and concluding with a spin on the dance floor to music from the Becca Kaufman Orchestra — one of Chicago’s premier dance bands. Throughout the evening guests will bid on silent auction items through mobile bidding using a phone or tablet.
Hephzibah’s 2015 Heart of Gold Award goes to Jeff Mauro, an Emmy-nominated celebrity chef, born and raised in Chicago. Jeff was determined from an early age to become the funniest chef in the world. With meat, cheese and bread coursing through his veins, he landed himself on Season 7 of hit show Food Network Star. He ultimately won the competition by combining his passions for cooking with comedy and landed his own series, Sandwich King. After more than five successful seasons, he was tapped by the Food Network to also host Candy Craze and hit daytime show, The Kitchen.
Jeff Mauro first visited Hephzibah as a child when his mother served on the board of directors. He is honored for his support of Hephzibah and his great love of children, family, and community.
Kathy Nugent, a beloved member of Hephzibah’s after-school day care staff for more than 40 years, will be honored with the 2015 Heart of the Home Award. Kathy has worked at all of the day care sites within Oak Park’s eight public elementary schools, touching the lives of many grateful children and families. Her special impact on the community is evident when she is out to dinner or walking down the street in Oak Park. Children and adults come up to hug her and thank her for being part of their extended family.
Don’t miss the chance to be among Hephzibah friends, united to create a brighter future for children who need our help.
